I have owned the domain name, "Seize the Season" since 2003. I have owned "Seize THIS Season" since 2018.(but that's another story) I have been, however, learning to live by Seizing each Season for 40+ years. I didn't start right away :-)
My first 18 years (my Spring season) spanned my birth to my graduaton from high school. I lived in three different houses in the same small town. I was the oldest of 5. After High School graduation in 1964* I moved to the Big City, went to business school, got a job, and started a family. Over the next 18 years (my summer season) we raised 5 children and 7 of my grandchildren were born. During my Fall season, the last of my children (23 consecutive years of pre-schoolers) began school about the same time my first grandchild was born. I found gainful employment, utilizing the skills I had honed during my stay-at-home years. My first boss hired me, stating: "If you can raise five children, you can manage a law office." My other skills? I typed at 85 wpm (up from the 33 wpd I had graduated h.s. with due to volunteer work and a LOT of term papers) and knew how to use a Word Processor because my daughter took my typewriter to college. My new employer pointed to one of the buttons on the five-line phone and said, "This is the line that your children call you on. If we aren't mothers first, nothing else is important." My family got bigger during my Fall season adding more members -- this time daughters- and sons-in-law, and of course more grandchildren (currently we are at 21 and will probably rest there until we have more great-grandchildren).
I retired from a community college -- appropriately -- in my Winter season, having added web skills and photography. Now I want to marry those two skills in this page and share with my friends, family, and colleagues, visual images of the Seasons as I've discovered them: Seasons of Life, Seasonal landscapes, Seasoning -- Wisdom and Salt. I'm doing this part for me -- with the hope you will recognize your Seasons as you visit mine and we can Seize the Season together as we share that vista.
